It has been reported that Veterans who have retired prior to 1986 are facing difficulties in obtaining duplicate copy of their PPO. The primary aim of attaching a copy of PPO with ECHS Application Form is to verify the veracity of being an Ex-Serviceman pensioner alongwith particulars of recipient of eligible family pensioner ie name of spouse and special child, if any. The status of being a pensioner and that of his/her spouse can also be established from DPDO/Bankers certificate and other details ie name of spouse etc could be ascertained from discharge book of the individual.
In view of the above the ECHS Application Form in respect of pre-1986 retirees may be accepted without a copy of PPO provided membership applied by Armed Forces Veteran pensioner is only for himself/herself and his/her spouse (the status of being a pensioner could be ascertained from DPDO/Banker's Certificate). for details chekc link
