Regarding the officer cadets, who get injured during training and are boarded out on medical grounds, it is clarified that they are only given a disability award and not disability pension. This is because his service during training period is not counted for pension purposes and therefore he is not eligible for the status of Ex-serviceman.
Keeping the above in view it is ruled that such officer cadets are NOT eligible for ECHS.
Authority: Central Organisation ECHS DO letter No B/49708-RECT/AG/ECHS dt 16 Feb 2005.
